Mirabella Imbaccari is a small town in the heart of Sicily, proudly known as the “città del tombolo” – city of bobbin lace. While searching through the archives at the historic Palazzo Biscari, formerly home to a lace school, as well as the collection at the local museum, I came across a distinctive ornament called “riccioli e rose.” A beautiful doily featuring this motif served as the inspiration for my mural.
I am very grateful for the invitation and the extraordinary two weeks spent in Mirabella Imbaccari with Daniela Marcì. I thank Angela Terranova and her family for their care and personal attention. I extend my thanks to all organizations and individuals involved in the creation of my mural. Lastly, I am very grateful to the townspeople for their incredibly warm and welcoming reception.
